It is common knowledge that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is looking to improve his defensive options ahead of the next season and he has now targeted Real Madrid’s center back Raphael Varane, Mirror reports.

The 24-year-old France international would not come cheap and it is hard to see Zinedine Zidane letting one of his favorite players go, but that might not be a problem – Mourinho will likely have another busy transfer window with a sufficiently large transfer budget at his disposal.

Furthermore, it is unclear whether Zidane will even finish this season at the bench of Real Madrid due to his disappointing domestic performances. Anything short of another Champions League would probably result in his early sacking.

Another thing that goes in favor of the Red Devils is the fact that Jose Mourinho has already managed Varane during his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu. If Varane decides to leave Los Blancos, there is no probably no other place he would rather go than Manchester United and Old Trafford.

Tell us what you think: Would Varane be a good signing for Manchester United or should they focus on other defenders?
