Both Manchester giants are reportedly interested in signing the experienced Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng, who looks set to leave the Bavarian outfit in the summer, The Sun reveals.
Pep Guardiola is allegedly a big fan of the German international who he managed during his stay at the Allianz Arena, but Boateng has already had a somewhat disappointing spell at Manchester City and it remains uncertain whether he would want to return to the Etihad Stadium.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho continues his search for a top centre-back to finally fix his defensive issues. The Special One has already looked at Raphael Varane from Real Madrid and Jonny Evans from West Bromwich, but Madrid might not be willing to sell their young defender in the summer and there appear to be fitness concerns regarding Evans and his potential return to Old Trafford. Since both of these deals look unlikely at the moment, it is thought that Mourinho could turn to the 29-year-old Bayern defender to solve his problems once and for all.
In any case, both City and United would need to offer at least £50m to persuade Bayern Munich to part with their player.
What do you think? Who would be a better fit for Boateng, Manchester United or Manchester City?
