La Liga giants Barcelona are considering a shock move for Manchester United’s left-back Luke Shaw, after his latest bust-up with the Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho, Mirror reports.
Recent media reports suggest that the Manchester United players were appalled with the way Mourinho treats his left-back, with some of them going as far as describing the Mourinho-Shaw relationship as bullying. (as per The Telegraph)
Amid these rumors, Shaw rejected a new contract extension and his contract now appears likely to run out next summer, unless the club manages to sell him earlier. However, the Red Devils will be looking to recoup at least some of the £27m fee that they paid to Southampton when they secured the signing of Shaw in 2014.
Mirror revealed that Barcelona are looking to sign the 22-year-old left-back to replace Lucas Digne, who appears to be at the exit door in search of more playing time.
This means that it’s unlikely that Shaw would have a regular role in the starting lineup at Camp Nou, due to the unwavering presence of Jordi Alba, who became one of the best left-backs in the world during his stay with Barcelona.
Perhaps a move to a lesser club would better suit Shaw and his career prospects at the moment.
What do you think? Should Luke Shaw move to Barcelona and should Barcelona even be interested in him?
