It is no secret that Toby Alderweireld is negotiating a new contract extension with Tottenham Hotspur, but it appears that neither side will cave in to the demands of the other and the center-back looks likely to leave Tottenham in the summer, as the Spurs try to at least turn a profit on the player.

This has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs, including PSG, Barcelona, Manchester United and now apparently Chelsea, as The Mirror reveals.

Tottenham will look to sell outside of the Premier League to avoid strengthening their rivals, but that might not be possible, unless they lower their asking price, which is currently fixed at around £50 million, according to various reports.

However, in the midst of the contract dispute, the Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino recently decided to drop Alderweireld to the bench and restrict his playing opportunities. This could significantly impact his price ahead of a potential summer move.

Furthermore, the Belgium national manager Roberto Martinez even suggested that Alderweireld could miss out on a spot in the World Cup squad if he does not get more playing time before the tournament. (as per The Mirror)

What do you think? Where should Alderweireld go next? Or should he perhaps give up on his pay rise and stay at Tottenham?
