Barcelona could already be preparing for life after Samuel Umtiti leaves or Gerard Pique retires – whichever comes first – as the club is ready to bid up to €100m to sign the highly-rated Leipzig center-back Dayot Upamecano, Telefoot exclusively revealed.

The 19-year-old French defender has enjoyed a stellar campaign with RB Leipzig, cementing his place in the starting lineup and establishing himself as one of the most promising defenders in world football.

However, Barcelona are not the only club that noticed his impressive performances this year and the Blaugrana could face competition from a host of European clubs, including AC Milan, Bayern Munich and even Premier League giants Manchester United, who continue their search for a quality center-back.

It is yet unclear where he will end up, but his price tag will probably rule out AC Milan from any potential move.

Meanwhile, the young player himself told Telefoot (via Goal.com) that he dreams of playing for one of the European giants, such as Barcelona, Real Madrid or Manchester United. Interestingly enough, he failed to mention Bayern Munich, perhaps hinting that he wouldn’t be ready to join one of RB Leipzig’s biggest league rivals.

What do you think? Where should Dayot Upamecano continue his career?
