Arsene Wenger is reportedly looking to further improve his attack, despite the fact that he recently signed Alexander Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and he has now targeted the underperforming Real Madrid star Karim Benzema as his next potential signing, according to Diario Gol.
In his typical fashion, Wenger is once again trying to establish a fully fledged French-speaking side that could at least challenge for the top four more seriously next year and perhaps win a cup trophy – something that was his speciality not so long ago.
However, Florentino Perez might be asking as much as €80m for the 30-year-old Frenchman, which could derail any transfer move, unless the Real Madrid president decides to lower his asking price significantly.
It is thought that Arsenal would be prepared to offer no more than €40 million for the French forward, which could prove to be enough despite the initial stance of Florentino Perez, provided that Real Madrid manage to secure the signing of Harry Kane or Robert Lewandowski at a reasonable price.
What do you think? Do Arsene Wenger and Arsenal really need another forward or should they focus on improving other areas of the pitch?
