Atletico Madrid are interested in bringing back Sergio Aguero to the club, as they look to find a suitable replacement for Antoine Griezmann, who is set to join Barcelona in a €100 million transfer in the summer, according to Marca.
Despite releasing a statement attacking Barcelona and stating that Griezmann is an Atleti player, it seems the club isn’t ready to bet that Griezmann will reject a move to La Liga champions Barcelona, who plan to pay his €100 million release clause to bypass negotiations with Atletico.
Therefore, they have already started their search for a replacement and they have identified Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, who was rumored to be looking for a move away from the Premier League for quite some time, as the prime candidate.
Diego Simeone reportedly believes that Aguero would jump at the opportunity to return to the club that made him one of the best forwards in the world and he is ready to spend as much as necessary to complete this transfer.
However, it remains uncertain whether Pep Guardiola and Manchester City would be ready to release their best goalscorer, which means that this move will probably depend on City bringing in a striker, possibly Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain, who is allegedly one of the best players in the world in the eyes of Pep Guardiola.
What do you think? Should Atletico Madrid sign Sergio Aguero and has the time come for Manchester City to sell the player and move on?
