Neymar has reportedly made his intent to move back to La Liga and join Real Madrid this summer, despite only arriving to Paris Saint-Germain last year in a world record €222 million deal, Goal reveals.
The Brazil ace is allegedly unhappy with the level of competition in France and he wants to return to La Liga, which, he feels, suits his style of play better.
However, PSG are not ready to let Neymar, their best and highest paid player to leave, as he has a contract with the French club until 2022. Although PSG are aware that they will not be able to keep him for the entire duration of his contract, they still feel they can get at least one or two more years from the Brazilian international, before he moves on.
Pini Zahavi, Neymar’s agent, has reportedly already made contact with the Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, as he looks to push through a move, together with Neymar’s father.
It is now thought that Paris Saint-Germain were primarily a detour for Neymar, since he always planned to join Real Madrid, but was reluctant to do that directly from their greatest rivals Barcelona.
Nevertheless, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently accused the Spanish media of deliberately moving to unsettle the player and ruled out any summer transfer involving Neymar.
“Who says he will not stay here? Did anyone say that? No one,” he said to reporters. “He has a contract with us, and he will stay, 2000%.
“Spanish media are still working for Spanish clubs and against the French clubs. And the French media I don’t know who they are working for.” (via Goal)
