The 2017/18 season might not go down as one of the more interesting seasons, but the lack of proper title challenges across Europe has hardly been felt on the attendance figures, which have remained relatively stable for yet another year.
As the season finally ended, MozzartSport compiled a list of 50 European clubs with the highest attendance rates in 2017/18. Bear in mind that this list only includes European clubs, which means that South American giants, such as Boca Juniors and River Plate have not been included, despite their incredible attendance figures.
The list contains several surprises – most notably, it features relegated Bundesliga sides such as Hamburger SV and Koln, as well as Championship promotion hopefuls Aston Villa.
For yet another year in a row, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich top the list of average attendances, thanks to their large stadiums and well-established fan culture.
Unsurprisingly, Barcelona and Real Madrid feature in the top 10 as well, claiming the no. 4 and no. 6 spots, respectively.
Three Premier League clubs – Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal – also found their way to the top 10. Tottenham can claim this achievement thanks to the Wembley Stadium, where they hosted their home games this season, while their new stadium is being built. Due to this, it remains highly unlikely they will manage to repeat this next year.
Schalke 04, Celtic and Inter – three clubs that secured Champions League qualification this year – comprise the rest of the top 10.
What follows is the full list of the 50 clubs with the highest attendance figures in the 2017/18 season.
