Thibaut Courtois has already left Chelsea and England ahead of his potential move to UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid, even though his parent club is yet to agree a deal for the transfer. (as per The Telegraph)
With months of rumors and alleged negotiations between the two clubs, the move will hardly come as a surprise. However, Courtois irresponsible behavior has apparently left the Chelsea boardroom fuming, as they now have to scramble to find a goalkeeping replacement in the next three days, before the Premier League transfer window official closes.
Roman Abramovich has to act quickly and he will now instruct his team to move for Jordan Pickford, Jack Butland or Gigi Donnarumma. If the club fails to sign a new goalkeeper, they will have to rely on the experience of Willy Caballero and Robert Green.
However, in any case, it’s hard to imagine Chelsea challenging for top-four with such a weak defense.
Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez will finally get a new goalkeeper, as his three-year chase for a Keylor Navas replacement has seemingly come to an end. Previously, the Madrid president allegedly preferred David De Gea and Alisson, but was unable to conclude any deals for his clubs.
